Listen again: 12th June 2012

Penny Arcade in ‘Bitch! Dyke! Faghag! Whore!’

Rosie is joined by the New York legend Penny Arcade. She tells us about her show ‘Bitch! Dyke! Faghag! Whore!’ that celebrates sex, freedom and art. She also reveals what makes the show so special and explains to us what the word ‘queer’ means to her. Her show runs at the Arcola Tent from 27th June to 22nd July.

Also in the studio: Justen Bennett, director of play ‘The Fantastical Adventures [Not] Being With You’, which can be seen at the Blue Elephant from June 19th to July 7th 2012. He also wrote the play and that’s what is about:

“We are about to embark on ’Us’. From here on out, all we do, see, hear, taste, smell, and touch will be Us. Different parts of and points in Us. This will not be a direct flight.” Two men share their timeless love story via moments alternately charming, childish and churlish. Join A & B in a funny, quirky piece of physical theatre full of fantastical adventures.

For rights reasons the music is not on the podcast, but that’s what you could hear on the show:

1) Rufus Wainwright: ‘Out of the Game’ from the album “Out of the Game”

2) The Irrepressibles: ‘Arrow’ from the album “Nude” out in October.

3) David Bedella: ‘All the Things You Are’ from the album “The Dean St. Sessions”
