Rosie welcomes comedian Claire Dowie, whose speciality is stand-up theatre. Rosie finds out more about this new genre, the comedian’s progress on her new book and the fact that Claire’s latest show is also a success in Germany. In London her show runs at the Etcetera Theatre in Camden on 25th, 26th and 27th January 2013. Her show tells the story of waking up one morning and discover a tragic inability to shop…
That certainly is not a problem in the Moomin Shop in Covent Garden, which Wendy Baverstock explored after seeing a documentary on the Moomin creator Tove Jansson on the BBC. Wendy shares her thoughts on the small shop and the insightful documentary “Moominland Tales: The Life of Tove Jansson”, which put the artist back into the limelight, including her niece Sophia Jansson, who opened the shop. The documentary is available on the BBC iPlayer until 16th January 2013 and a conversation with Sophia Jansson and the documentary maker Eleanor Yule is available on BBC Radio 4 on the Woman’s Hour website.
For rights reasons the music is not on the podcast, but that’s what you could hear on the show:
1) Marcus Reeves: ‘Black Tears’ from the album “Quicksilver – The Masquerade Macabre”
2) Erin McKeown: ‘Proof’ from the album “Manifestra”
3) David Bowie: ‘Where We Are Now’ from the album “The Next Day”
